Job Summary & Job Duties
The laboratory technician shall perform laboratory functions to include analytical and physical testing to ensure that all processes carried out at CSL are within the parameters set by our customer’s and third-party auditing entities. The laboratory technician will perform these tests on a regular basis to meet the customer’s testing deadlines. The laboratory functions include tracking tests to ensure they meet deadlines, creating testing certifications, reviewing test results for pass/fail criteria, reviewing data for trends and non-conformances, reviewing customer requirements to set up new testing methodologies, and participating in audits performed within the company on a regular basis
- Perform and document daily solution testing.
- Perform and document monthly periodic testing.
- Ensure that all the necessary test specimens are available and in compliance to specifications.
- Monitor critical solution parameters.
- Use PC Documents to analyze and continually improve solution parameters.
- Make the necessary additions to maintain proper solution levels and concentrations.
- Complete Lab chemical inventory to ensure availability of required materials.
- Purchase all lab supply and lab chemicals as needed and buy additional chemicals/materials necessary.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Perform clerical duties to file lab orders, test certs, chemical certificates of analysis, metal specimen certificate of analysis, purchase orders, etc.
- Determine amount of chemicals to be added to chemical process tanks to ensure that chemical concentrations stay within required ranges.
- Tag out process tanks when needed due to out of range concentrations, temperatures, etc.
- Communicate with shop personnel to inform shop employees of issues with tanks, test specimens, and/or operation of baths.
- Make chemical additions to process tanks when required.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and know how to use all personal protective equipment, first aid kits, eye wash stations, and other safety devices.
- Monitor shelf life of materials used for both laboratory testing and bulk chemical additions to process tanks.
