Life Moves is the largest and most effective provider of housing and services for neighbors experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley since 1987. Our Mission is to end homelessness by providing interim housing, supportive services, and building collaborative partnerships. With 40 programs, Life Moves gives our neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through site-based programs and community outreach.
PositionPurpose
Life Moves | Palo Alto is a new program and will provide interim supportive housing in Palo Alto 24 family units and 64 individual units. Clients receive support through holistic services, case management, workshops, and connections to specialized resources. The program is currently operating out of a hotel and will move into the Palo Alto space when completed. This role includes supporting program start‑up, creating essential documents and processes, and adapting to evolving needs.
The Palo Alto Residential Service Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the program site is safe, welcoming, and runs smoothly. Reporting to the Program Director, the position responds to client needs, supports volunteers, donors, and community visitors, and maintains site security.
Key Responsibilities- Provide calm, supportive crisis response and connect clients to appropriate resources as needed.
- Respond to client, volunteer, donor, and visitor needs with professionalism, compassion, and radical hospitality.
- Monitor site safety through rounds and camera observation to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Report maintenance or pest issues promptly and assist with pest control and cleanliness efforts.
- Manage facility meals, supplies, and donations, ensuring accurate inventory and organized storage.
- Create reports, update shift logs, and participate actively in team meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality, appropriate boundaries, and professional conduct at all times.
- Conduct client move-ins, transitions, and move-outs, ensuring accurate documentation and a positive experience.
- Complete all required trainings within deadlines, including CPR, Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Intervention, and database use.
- Participate in online trainings on trauma‑informed care, mental health, substance use, crisis prevention, and mandated reporting.
- Attend continuing education opportunities to strengthen professional skills and uphold agency standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support program and organizational needs.
- High School Diploma or GED required; 2–3 years of consistent equivalent experience in a related field may substitute for formal education.
- Demonstrates care, respect, and empathy when working with people from all backgrounds and commits to DEIB principles.
- Manages stress and emotions professionally, remaining calm, composed, and supportive under pressure while applying de‑escalation techniques to ensure safety and positive outcomes.
- Open to feedback and motivated to learning in areas such as trauma‑informed care, crisis support, and harm‑reduction practices.
