AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. We tackle complex supply‑chain challenges and look for talented engineers to help us innovate and scale.

The role is a Senior Software Development Engineer focusing on Software‑Defined Networking, hyper‑scale data center networks, cloud infrastructure, and large‑scale software deployments. You’ll design, build, and deploy services that control traffic flow across Amazon’s network, responding to scaling, maintenance, failure, and security events to improve performance, availability, and cost.

• Own multiple services and features, designing them to scale with robust unit tests and metrics.
• Understand customer needs by working with stakeholders and translating them into software requirements and execution plans.
• Deliver quality features on time and on budget, executing against project plans and delivery commitments.
• Lead development activities, participate in design reviews, code reviews, and implementation.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting good software development practices.
• Maintain current technical knowledge, advocate new technologies, and integrate them into the team’s workflow.

• Architect, design, implement, test, and deploy new features to improve scale and availability of the network.
• Continuously improve to reduce the cost of operating the network.
• Exercise the highest bar for security in both code and operations.
• Provide deeper insight into service health to meet customer expectations on availability.

• 7+ years of professional non‑internship software development experience.
• 7+ years of experience writing software in at least one programming language.
• 7+ years of leading the design or architecture (patterns, reliability, scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, technical lead, or engineering team leader.

• 5+ years of leading design or architectural work on new and existing systems.
• Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience in networking, large‑scale distributed systems, or a related field.
• Experience programming with a modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
