We are seeking a software development engineer to build the core functionality of AWS Internet Monitoring, focusing on autonomous software systems that enhance application and network monitoring across our global network.

• Develop and implement advanced algorithms to automate and optimize Internet Monitoring operations, leveraging generative AI techniques to improve network performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including developers, network engineers, scientists, and leadership—to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Design, test, and deploy production‑grade software systems that integrate AI capabilities, ensuring operational excellence and system reliability.
• Utilize AI coding tools to accelerate development, enhance code quality, and maintain rigorous testing and validation standards.
• Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies and methodologies to sustain technical leadership and drive innovation in network monitoring solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering excellence through constructive feedback, documentation improvements, and process optimization.
• Proactively identify technical challenges, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive resolution to ensure smooth operation of AI‑powered monitoring systems.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide project updates, gather feedback, and align on strategic objectives.
• Own end‑to‑end operational excellence for deployed solutions, including monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production systems.

The Internet Monitoring team monitors the health of Amazon’s traffic to and from the Internet, providing high‑quality, cost‑optimized signals used for traffic engineering and automated traffic optimization.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years designing or architecting systems to meet reliability and scalability goals.
• 2+ years programming in a modern language such as Java, C++, or C# with object‑oriented design experience.

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience—including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
