Firmware Software Engineer — Embedded & Platform

Job :

EC2 is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to join the Nitro Firmware Team. The team owns the intersection between EC2 hardware and the rest of the software stack, responsible for firmware integration, performance measurement, and deployment across EC2 fleets.

• Hands‑on software development: design reviews, implementation, code reviews, and new platform enablement.
• Automated test development and monitoring to ensure code scales and functions reliably.
• Collaboration with Principal Engineers, silicon designers, hardware engineers, and partners to develop robust firmware update mechanisms.
• Development of tools and processes for measuring firmware performance, qualification, monitoring, and deployment across all EC2 platforms.

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

• 6+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• 3+ years of computer science fundamentals experience (object‑oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis).
• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Salary range: $165,200 – $223,600 annually (USA, CA, Santa Clara). Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, and restricted stock units (RSUs).
