The Software Engineer (Mule Soft Engineer with GenAI) role is a Contract with a client located in Santa Clara, CA (Remote).

Job Description:
As a Senior Integration Engineer (Contract), you will play a critical role in assisting our organization's digital marketing platform team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and modernizing enterprise integration systems using Mule Soft Anypoint Platform and Cloud Hub 2.0. Your expertise in microservices architecture, intelligent workflow orchestration using Mule Soft Agent Fabric and Salesforce Agentforce (Einstein 1 Platform), and complex distributed integrations will be vital in optimizing our integration architecture and enhancing the overall performance, scalability, and automation capabilities of our systems.
What you'll be doing:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather integration requirements and translate business needs into scalable API-led connectivity architectures.
Design, develop, and implement robust Mule Soft solutions using Anypoint Studio, API Manager, Exchange, Runtime Manager, and Anypoint Code Builder while adhering to core design principles of scalability, maintainability, security, and performance.
Architect and deploy applications on Cloud Hub 2.0, leveraging its containerized runtime, deployment strategies, observability features, and CI/CD integrations.
Experience and familiarity with Claude Code or Mule Soft Dev Agent to develop workflows in Mule Soft.
Lead initiatives to refactor legacy monolithic systems into microservices-based, event-driven architectures using distributed integration patterns and asynchronous messaging with technologies such as Anypoint MQ and Kafka.
Lead migration from Cloud Hub 1.0 to 2.0.
Design and implement intelligent, agent-driven workflows using Mule Soft Agent Fabric for agent governance, orchestration, and lifecycle management, and integrate Salesforce Agentforce on the Einstein 1 Platform to enable AI-powered automation and cross-system decisioning.
Create secure and reusable REST-based APIs and apply API-level security for data at rest and in transit using OAuth2, JWT, and policy enforcement within API Manager.
Design comprehensive error handling, resiliency strategies, and fault-tolerant integration patterns.
Develop automated test routines and perform unit, system, and functional testing while ensuring integration reliability and accuracy of data processing.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex distributed integration issues by identifying root causes and implementing effective, scalable solutions.
Optimize integration processes for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Collaborate with QA and Dev Ops teams to define and execute automated testing strategies and CI/CD workflows.
Stay up to date with the latest Mule Soft, Salesforce AI, and integration industry advancements.
Participate in on-call support and provide technical leadership during critical production incidents.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience designing enterprise-grade integration architectures using Mule Soft Anypoint Platform.
8+ years of experience in enterprise integration and distributed systems design, with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience with Mule Soft Anypoint Platform.
Strong hands-on experience with Cloud Hub 2.0 architecture and deployment models.
Experience building intelligent agent-driven workflows using Mule Soft Agent Fabric and Salesforce Agentforce (Einstein 1 Platform).
Demonstrated experience refactoring legacy monolithic systems into microservices-based architectures.
Strong knowledge of API-led connectivity, distributed systems design, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and scaling them.
Solid understanding of API security, integration patterns, and data transformation techniques.
Experience with Python/Golang programming and Mule Soft Data Weave transformation language.
Ability to work with various data formats, including JSON, XML, and CSV.
Experience with Mule 3 to Mule 4 migration projects is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Mule Soft Certification(s) is a plus.
