Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Kiro Autonomous Agent
Job : | Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc.
The future of software development is autonomous. AWS is building Kiro Autonomous Agent — a frontier agent that independently tackles development tasks, maintains context across interactions, and continuously learns from its work. This isn’t just another AI tool; it’s a fundamental shift in how software gets built and maintained.
We’re looking for engineers who want to shape this transformation. You’ll work alongside exceptional talent solving novel problems at the intersection of AI and software engineering. The challenges are unique: building systems that operate autonomously, retain context across complex workflows, and improve through experience—all while meeting AWS’s exacting standards for scale, reliability, and security.
Your impact will be immediate and visible. You’ll ship features that directly improve how developers work. Daily collaboration includes code reviews, mentorship in both directions, and rapid skill development. From day one, you’ll have opportunities to lead—whether that’s owning projects, defining technical direction, or shaping how the team operates.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of large‑scale distributed systems for the Kiro Autonomous Agent.
- Apply rigorous engineering principles to develop infrastructure that is reliable, performant, and resilient under production conditions.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to define technical direction and own project deliverables.
- Proficiency in one or more of: compute systems (AWS EC2, ECS, Lambda, Docker, Kubernetes), networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPC, firewall policies, service mesh), systems architecture (fault‑tolerant, high‑availability), infrastructure as code (Terraform, Cloud Formation, CDK), observability engineering (monitoring, structured logging, distributed tracing).
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming with at least one major language.
- Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
- Experience leading engineering teams or mentoring.
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing, operations).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience building complex software systems delivered to customers.
