Senior Principal Software Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for technical leaders to build and deliver a key-value store that supports billions of keys and millions of requests per second at sub-millisecond latencies. This opportunity involves launching a new OCI service from scratch and collaborating with senior architects and leaders at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

• Define the foundations for the next generation of OCI data‑planes, making deep architectural decisions and driving the software design.
• Collaborate with executives for investment, aligning large cloud‑scale projects with organizational goals.
• Take an active role in defining and evolving standard practices and procedures.
• Perform software development tasks associated with developing, designing, and debugging software applications or operating systems.
• Guide and mentor junior team members; balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements.
• Automate and instrument services to improve operational excellence and customer focus.

• 10+ years of relevant engineering, architecture, or development/operations experience.
• Strong experience in C/C++ (open to working on Rust).
• Experience with high‑concurrency systems and low‑level, performance‑critical system design.
• Working knowledge of distributed storage, write‑ahead logging, indexing strategies (B‑tree, LSM), data partitioning/sharding, Raft, Paxos, MVCC, and CAP theorem trade‑offs.
• Contributor to open source or commercial databases such as Rocks
  
  DB, MySQL, Postgre
  
  SQL.
• Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable with complex, evolving software development environments.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and drive cross‑team process improvements.
• Expert knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
• Significant work experience in startups or fast‑paced enterprise technology development environments.
• Demonstrated mentorship abilities, effectively guiding and developing teams.
