We handle everything from ingest to delivery at global scale so developers can focus on building community.
TeamThe Media Foundations team is a center of excellence for streaming media processing, codec technologies, media formats, network protocols, and media quality analysis. Services written in C/C++/Go/Rust process low‑latency inputs and deliver real‑time outputs to viewers, subscribers, and recordings.
Responsibilities- Define and execute technical strategies for Amazon IVS features, balancing customer needs, business priorities, and technical excellence.
- Own operational excellence across services, improve incident response, and continually improve deployment practices and monitoring.
- Drive hiring, retention, and development of engineering talent, building diverse high‑performing teams and coaching future leaders.
- Partner with Product Management, Principal Engineers, and stakeholders to shape product vision, prioritize investments, and deliver customer‑obsessed solutions.
- Manage complex technical dependencies and integration points across services, ensuring seamless customer experiences and architectural alignment.
- Drive cost optimization and efficiency improvements while maintaining service quality.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
- 8+ years developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered distributed software systems using service‑oriented architecture.
- Knowledge of engineering practices for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
- Experience delivering products in a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplined, distributed environment.
- Experience with live video streaming concepts and technologies (codecs, containers, protocols).
- Experience optimizing native C/C++/Rust/Golang applications in Linux environments.
- Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe product strategy.
- Experience building and operating globally available services using AWS (DynamoDB, SQS, Cloud Watch, ECS, EC2, S3).
- Experience with user‑generated content platforms or infrastructure that enables creators and audiences at scale.
- Experience collaborating with open source software projects.
Base salary range:
USA, CA, San Francisco – $ – $ annually. For other locations:
USA, CA, Santa Clara – $ – $;
USA, WA, Seattle – $ – $. Compensation includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units, 401(k) matching, health/dental/vision benefits, EAP, mental health support, and parental leave.
