This individual leads, plans, synthesizes ambiguous or conflicting requirements and performs the complex responsibility of the development, creation, and modification of specialized embedded software and firmware solutions. The role involves analyzing user needs, designing and customizing software for client use to optimize operational efficiency, and specializing in low‑level embedded firmware development for wireless networking subsystems, including real‑time data path processing, hardware‑software interfaces, and performance‑sensitive control logic.
The engineer modifies existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or enhance performance, and evaluates feasibility of designs within time and cost constraints. Throughout the project, the engineer collaborates with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
- Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
- Design and develop specialized embedded software or tailor solutions for clients to improve operational efficiency.
- Specialize in low‑level firmware development for wireless networking subsystems, handling real‑time data path processing and hardware‑software interfacing.
- Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
- Lead complex debugging and root‑cause analysis of system‑level issues across firmware, hardware, and simulation or emulation platforms.
- Gather, integrate, and interpret information from multiple code modules or sub‑blocks to troubleshoot issues and devise solutions.
- Resolve highly complex software issues and bugs quickly.
- Communicate with project lead to provide status updates, identify impending obstacles, and suggest remediation strategies.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives and close design gaps.
- Suggest strategies during technical meetings to solve issues efficiently.
- Unit‑test own code and perform integration testing to verify the stability and functionality of large features.
- Act as a technical leader in the area of focus, managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for small projects.
- Perform code reviews on the project team’s submitted solutions.
- Contribute actively at design reviews and project meetings, communicating and implementing development plans.
Will accept a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and seven (7) years of progressive experience in a related occupation.
