General Summary
Sensors-based technology has a wide range of applications including navigation, gaming, smart user interface, multimedia, virtual reality, and augmented reality. This challenging position offers the opportunity to work with leading edge sensor technologies embedded in smartphones, automotive, IOT, smartwatches as well as other consumer electronics devices. Job activities span the whole product life cycle from early R&D to commercial deployment. The successful candidate will work with systems, software, and integration/test engineers in the QCT sensors group.
Job Responsibilities- Code in C and C++, ideally in new modern C++ standards, and unit and system testing using modern frameworks like Google Test.
- Implement sensor signal processing and machine learning algorithms across various embedded SOCs.
- Debug, verify, optimize, and tune C code for MATLAB/Python signal processing and machine learning algorithms. Critical to this role is proficiency in C, familiarity with Python and MATLAB, ability to implement MATLAB-coded algorithms in C, and familiarity with RTOS and multi-threaded programming environments.
- Architect software frameworks and modules on a variety of cores like CPU, embedded MCU, and GPU.
- Make effective engineering tradeoffs between performance, memory, power consumption, and computational complexity.
- Create reports on algorithm evaluation results and deliver complete design and user documentation.
- Program in one interpreted language (Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.).
- Conduct new technology demonstrations, interface with customers and sensor vendors, and partner with internal and external teams.
The position is technology focused and involves participation in a broad range of sensors systems engineering activities within the Sensors Technologies group.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- Multi-threaded programming experience.
- Familiarity with hardware architectures such as CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs.
- Hands‑on experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensor Flow.
- Experience with fixed‑point implementation and quantization for ML models.
- Detail oriented, following a thorough and analytical approach, and producing complete documentation.
- Experience with RTOS and modifying device drivers.
- Basic understanding of linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong technical leadership and coaching skills.
