Position: Physical Design Methodology and Operations Engineer - New College Grad 2026

Physical Design Methodology and Operations Engineer

This role is part of a small team that owns infrastructure powering NVIDIA's semiconductor design flows. You will coordinate large‑scale design jobs across multiple datacenters and maintain production services that support over 1,000 chip designers worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Design and support mechanisms for coordinating and maintaining large‑scale semiconductor design tasks across multiple global datacenters.
  • Own, debug, and improve production services spanning web browsers, containerized microservices, and bare‑metal Linux hosts.
  • Build web interfaces to configure, launch, and analyze EDA tools and design flows.
  • Modernize legacy services—migrate and re‑architect backends, improve reliability and observability.
  • Analyze large telemetry datasets of job execution and tool quality to improve flows and catch regressions.
  • Help invent next‑generation semiconductor design methodology.
  • Optionally contribute directly to the physical design of GPU/SoC products.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Programming and scripting skills in Python, Perl, C, or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and large‑scale compute infrastructure.
  • Experience with web technologies and programming.
  • Linux experience.
Desired Experience
  • Exposure to workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Argo, Luigi, etc.).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch/Kibana/dashboarding.
  • Experience with relational or No

    SQL data stores (MSSQL, MySQL, SQLite, etc.).
  • Exposure to static timing analysis or VLSI physical design.
Compensation

Your base salary will be based on location, experience, and peer salaries. The base salary range is $100,000–$166,750 for Level 1 and $116,000–$189,750 for Level 2. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
