Staff Firmware Engineer — CPU Telemetry & Drivers
Talent Lab is recruiting a Staff Firmware Engineer to work on low-level CPU telemetry infrastructure for next-generation compute platforms.
This is a firmware and driver-level systems role, developing the software infrastructure that provides visibility into CPU and platform behaviour. The work involves embedded processors, hardware/software interaction, telemetry and performance instrumentation rather than application-level observability. The underlying position is focused on CPU telemetry tooling across embedded and cloud-edge environments.
What you'll work on:
- Design and develop low-level CPU telemetry and instrumentation software.
- Develop embedded firmware and driver components used to collect and expose hardware performance information.
- Build software components supporting system observability, diagnostics and performance analysis.
- Debug complex interactions between firmware, drivers, operating systems and hardware.
- Work closely with CPU, hardware, systems and validation engineers.
- Own software design, implementation, unit testing, debugging and integration.
- Perform code reviews, regression testing, issue triage and defect resolution.
- Provide technical guidance to other engineers and contribute to broader architectural decisions.
What we're looking for:
- Strong embedded software or firmware development experience.
- Advanced C/C++ programming skills.
- Experience developing low-level firmware, device drivers or hardware-facing systems software.
- Strong understanding of CPU/SoC architecture and hardware/software interaction.
- Experience with telemetry, performance counters, PMUs, diagnostics, instrumentation or related low-level performance technologies is particularly relevant.
- Experience debugging complex systems across firmware, drivers and hardware.
- Linux systems knowledge is valuable.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
