Kaiser Permanente is seeking an Orthopedic Software Engineer to build specialized solutions supporting shoulder and elbow surgery workflows in Santa Clara. You'll design and implement secure, scalable applications that integrate with clinical systems, leveraging Systeme.io's modern platform culture of innovation and collaboration. In this role, you'll partner closely with surgeons, analysts, and product managers to translate orthopedic requirements into intuitive software, improve data accuracy, and enhance decision support.
This is a hands-on engineering position with strong growth, learning, and impact opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain orthopedic-focused software modules, emphasizing shoulder and elbow clinical workflows
- Collaborate with clinicians and product managers to translate orthopedic surgery requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Implement and integrate APIs, data pipelines, and EMR/EHR interfaces for orthopedic data
- Ensure software quality through code reviews, automated testing, and performance optimization
- Contribute to UX improvements for surgeon-facing tools, dashboards, and reporting features
- Document system architecture, technical specifications, and deployment procedures
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide tier-3 technical support for orthopedic software features
- Participate in agile ceremonies and cross-functional planning to deliver iterative product enhancements
- Maintain strong security, compliance, and privacy standards in handling medical data
- Mentor junior developers and share best practices in healthcare software engineering
