We are now accepting applications for the Noncredit Instructor Applicant Pool. Noncredit instructor pools are open on a fiscal year basis for continuous recruitment for department assignments. The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Part-time faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. College of the Canyons is seeking noncredit faculty members in Noncredit English as a Second Language (ESL). Applications will be considered for immediate and future eligibility into the Noncredit English as a Second Language (ESL) Applicant Pool.

Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in English as a Second Language.

OR- a bachelor's degree in teaching English as a second language, or teaching English to speakers of other languages.

OR- a bachelor's degree in education, English, linguistics, applied linguistics, any foreign language, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, or speech; and a certificate in teaching English as a second language, which may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor.

OR- a bachelor's degree with any of the majors specified in the above paragraph; and one year of experience teaching ESL in an accredited institution; and a certificate in teaching English as a second language, which may be completed concurrently during the first two years of employment as a noncredit instructor.

OR- possession of a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in ESL.

Desirable Qualifications

* Master's degree in Teaching to English Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

* Professional experience includes both work/occupational experience and teaching experience. Teaching and occupational experience may be combined to total the required number of full-time years of experience.

* Hiring committees review all complete, qualified application packets. Possession of the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview.

Conditions of Employment

Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening), as well as Saturday classes.
