High-performance engineering business is seeking a 1D Fluid Systems Simulation Engineer with hands-on experience modeling modern automotive powertrains. This role sits within a specialized Simulation Group and offers strong technical ownership, autonomy, and visibility across design and development teams.
What You’ll Do- Build, run, and optimize 1D system-level simulations for powertrain, cooling, and hydraulic systems
- Analyze results and deliver clear technical reports to engineering and design teams
- Develop automation tools, scripts, and macros to streamline simulation workflows
- Create new methods to solve complex system-level performance problems
- Support parametric modeling of components
- Correlate simulation models with test data and instrumentation results
- Prepare and present detailed technical findings for engineering reviews
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional design and development teams
- 2–4 years of experience in 1D fluid or system simulation
- Strong experience with GT-Suite or equivalent tools (AVL Boost, Ricardo WAVE)
- Background in gas exchange, cooling, and hydraulic system modeling
- Experience with model correlation and test data analysis
- Familiarity with co-simulation and Design of Experiments (DoE) preferred
- Experience using tools such as AVL Concerto
- Programming skills in MATLAB, Python, and Java
- Working knowledge of iSight, HEEDS, and CATIA is a plus
- High standards for documentation, version control, and technical quality
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and capable of leading technical initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment
