Join the Clean Energy Revolution with Southern California Edison (SCE) as a Transmission Planning Advisor
. In this role you will lead multiple highly technical, time‑critical, engineering‑sensitive projects, planning, designing, and overseeing the installation of new sub‑transmission lines and realigning existing easements for third‑party relocations to prepare our grid for the future.

Responsibilities
  • Support the company’s electrical transmission, sub‑transmission, and distribution system by developing and designing plans, identifying required resources, and providing cost estimates and options for construction.
  • Coordinate tasks with internal staff to ensure projects are completed correctly and on time while meeting industry design standards and safety regulations.
  • Oversee environmental permitting and planning efforts for government, internal, and privately owned infrastructure projects.
  • Provide direction and support, assessing and managing the workload and performance of the team, and provide training when necessary; review design contractor job packets and peer designs.
  • Identify system and field risks, evaluate mitigation benefits, and provide design engineering, cost estimates, and project management activities for overhead and underground transmission, sub‑transmission, and distribution systems from inception to closing. Monitor project dates, compliance, and budget.
  • Lead the review of planning and system performance studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria.
  • Lead environmental planning and permitting work with a multi‑disciplinary team throughout the project lifecycle, serving as the single point of contact for Operations through construction and providing support for maintenance projects.
  • Create and maintain integral system circuit mapping for both overhead and underground facilities.
  • Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to planning and development review processes and verify compliance with approved plans.
  • Manage digital and geospatial records of transmission, sub‑transmission, and distribution assets to ensure accuracy and timely reporting to internal groups and external agencies.
  • Ensure protection of the company’s physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, properly managing private customer data and other sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in electrical utility distribution/transmission/telecommunication design, line construction, or engineering discipline.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
  • Experience designing and leading complex technical projects and making strategic decisions related to scope, impacts, policy, and implementation.
  • Proficiency with advanced design and planning tools (AUD, SPIDA, AutoCAD, Design Manager).
  • Experience providing technical oversight, reviewing complex designs, and ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Experience managing multiple or sensitive projects under tight timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to handle difficult stakeholder issues independently.
  • Strong cross‑functional coordination skills across Operations, Engineering, Environmental, etc.
  • Experience managing customer or stakeholder interactions in a technical, construction, or utility environment.
  • ROW acquisition practices; transmission construction expertise; electrical/structural engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of design standards for transmission, distribution, and telecom.
  • Experience reviewing maps and verifying quality; QC experience.
Additional Information
  • The position’s work mode is hybrid; employees will report to the SCE facility for set days with the option to work remotely on remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in California unless otherwise noted.
  • Position will require up to 25% traveling and field work across the SCE service territory.
  • Option for a 9/80 alternate work schedule or a standard 40‑hour per week schedule.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
