POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the General Ledger (GL), performing month‑end close activities, and preparing financial reports. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, strong analytical skills, and proactive communication across English‑ and Spanish‑speaking teams.

Beyond core accounting expertise, this role is ideal for someone who is genuinely excited about using AI and automation to improve financial workflows—whether that means building smarter reconciliation processes, automating routine reporting, or finding new ways to surface insights faster.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Reporting & Close
  • Perform full‑cycle accounting including monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close activities.
  • Prepare financial statements and provide data‑driven insights to senior leadership.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and automate close processes using AI tools.
Journal Entries & Reconciliations
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries and perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Leverage automation and AI‑assisted workflows to improve accuracy and speed of reconciliation cycles.
Accounts Payable / Receivable
  • Oversee high‑volume AP/AR, ensure accurate vendor payments, and manage invoicing.
Compliance & Tax
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and assist with tax filings (1099s, CA tax regulations).
  • Maintain internal control procedures and coordinate with external auditors.
Analysis & Reporting
  • Perform variance analysis and deliver actionable financial insights.
  • Use AI and data tools to build smarter, faster reporting pipelines.
Bilingual Collaboration
  • Act as a liaison with Spanish‑speaking internal teams and Mexico‑based counterparts to clarify accounting issues and financial data.
Supervision & Mentorship
  • Mentor or review the work of junior accounting staff.
  • Champion AI adoption within the team—share tools, workflows, and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a senior or lead role.
  • Languages:

    Professional working proficiency in Spanish (required for Mexico‑based team communication).
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Deep knowledge of GAAP; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Software:
    Advanced MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables); experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Quick Books, Sage).
  • AI & Automation:
    Demonstrated experience using AI tools, APIs, or automation platforms to improve accounting or finance workflows. This could include building automated reports, using AI for data analysis, integrating tools via API, or designing no‑code/low‑code solutions.
