Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced academic advisor to independently provide prescriptive advice on academic policies and procedures for the Art Department major requirements, and all aspects of course requirements for degree completion. Monitors student academic progress and assists students in making appropriate educational choices and decisions, and recommends solutions to progression and requirement issues. Conducts informational sessions and provides advice.

Provides course approval and articulation agreement processing for the department. Manages and inputs course scheduling information for both the graduate and undergraduate programs, including sections. Works independently under general supervision.

Under the general supervision of the Department Manager, the incumbent has full programmatic responsibility for the independent administration of undergraduate academic advising for the Art Department, which currently consists of 12 permanent faculty, 30 visiting lecturers per year, 8 technical and clerical staff, and approximately 500 proposed art and undergraduate majors. The major functional areas of responsibility include undergraduate student advising, course scheduling for the graduate and undergraduate programs, curriculum support, and general administrative support.

Budgeted Salary: $61,530 - $78,000 / annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.
