Location:
San Diego, CA (with global travel requirements)
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) in California, or the ability to obtain certification within three months of hire. ADCI (Association of Diving Contractors International) certification, with a strong preference for candidates holding additional dive certifications relevant to underwater inspections.
RoleSummary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Underwater Inspection Engineer to join our team. This unique position combines the expertise of civil engineering with professional diving skills to conduct thorough inspections of bridges, seawalls, and other underwater installations. The successful candidate will not only dive to investigate structural conditions but also analyze findings and compile detailed reports for further engineering assessments and actions.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct detailed underwater inspections of bridges, seawalls, and other installations, identifying any signs of damage, corrosion, or structural concerns.
- Utilize underwater photography, videography, and sonar imaging techniques to document findings.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on inspection results, including assessments of structural integrity, recommendations for repairs or maintenance, and estimations of project timelines and costs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop repair strategies and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Stay abreast of advancements in underwater inspection technologies and methodologies, incorporating best practices into daily operations.
- Travel globally to project sites, as required, with a focus on operations within California.
- Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.
- Familiarity with California state regulations and standards related to underwater structures and marine environments.
- Additional language skills are beneficial for international projects.
