Schedule:
Monday–Friday; hybrid work within Santa Cruz County available. Position includes participation in the medical on‑call rotation with additional stipend.
The Director of Health Services at Encompass Community Services leads the integration of medical services across residential and outpatient programs, partnering with other Service Area Directors and the Medical Director to advance integrated care for all clients.
Responsibilities- Assure quality of care by developing and interpreting standards of care; enforce adherence to state nursing regulations.
- Meet operational standards for medical services, contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer‑service standards; resolve problems and identify system improvements.
- In conjunction with the Medical Director:
- Assist in developing and expanding agency medical services.
- Develop, implement, and maintain medical policies and procedures (infectious disease, medication, withdrawal management, Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT), etc.).
- Provide consistent individual supervisory meetings for all medical personnel (LVN, RN, NP, PA, MA):
- Recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, counseling, and performance management.
- Provide ongoing medical consults (emergencies, triage, case management, intake concerns, higher level of care assessments, etc.).
- Manage and participate in on‑call rotation after‑hours/weekends/holidays.
- Oversee clinical documentation quality and compliance, including treatment notes, ensuring adherence to fee‑for‑service billing standards, goals, and performance metrics.
- Participate in Quality Improvement efforts:
- Identify system improvements and regularly participate in C&QI efforts.
- Assist in quality assurance of agency medical services, including staff training and audits.
- Manage contracts, budgets, and develop service lines related to the provision and future expansion of medical services.
- Collaborate with the Development and Communications team to acquire and maintain external funding that supports the sustainability of medical services and this position.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing (RN) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program.
- Unencumbered and unrestricted license to practice as an RN or FNP within California.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers certification.
- 3+ years of relevant experience with vulnerable health populations.
- 3+ years of experience directly supervising staff.
- Proficient computer skills:
Outlook, Excel, Teams, etc. - Strong attention to detail, prioritization, and triage skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Self‑motivated and proactive in identifying and addressing challenges and engaging staff and community partners.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of diverse groups of people.
- Must be able to pass a criminal record clearance.
- Must have a health examination, including a tuberculosis screening within 90 days prior to employment or within 7 days after employment and at least annually thereafter.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Public Health Nursing (PHN) certification.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
Pay is dependent on experience, scope of practice, and education:
- $130,000–$150,000 annually for a Registered Nurse license.
- $180,000–$200,000 annually for a Family Nurse Practitioner license.
