Cardiac Cath Lab RN
Unit has two suites and performs four to fourteen cases per day. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS for nurses. Technicians need CVT, RT, and CA Fluro. Patient-nurse ratio is one to one. Technicians will scrub and do hemodynamic monitoring. Nurses will handle sedation monitoring. Charge nurse role available without patient assignments. Nurse aides are not utilized; cath lab technicians assist with scrubbing and hemodynamic monitoring.
Weekend requirements include being on call twice a month. Staff will rotate holidays with permanent personnel. Scrub color is provided. There is no requirement for tele or ventilator management. A cardiologist is available on-site. Nurses start their own IVs. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts consist of business hours followed by on-call coverage. Floating between units is not required.
Orientation is tailored according to experience for nurses and technicians. Common diagnoses include STEMI, TAVR, interventional and diagnostic catheterizations, TAVR, EVAR, and cardio mams. The unit does not handle IR procedures or implants. Technicians will be responsible for scrubbing and hemodynamic monitoring, while nurses focus on sedation monitoring. Cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled under specific conditions. Charting is performed using Cerner.
