Painter I (Construction) Job Summary
Level I and II:
Under general supervision, prepares, primes, and paints interior and exterior buildings, facilities, and equipment.
Level II:
Must know all facets, techniques, and products used in painting and a variety of painting materials used.
Senior Painters must know all facets, techniques, and products used in painting and a variety of painting materials used.
UniqueJob Requirements
Wears company issued uniform. Works inside and outside in varying weather conditions. Works around dust and chemical fumes. May be required to wear respirators, hard hats, gloves, boots, belts, dust masks, goggles, and ear plugs as work conditions vary. May work in small confined area be required to work weekends. Requires a clean DMV printout at time of employment. Willingness to conform to company grooming standards.
JobTasks (In Order of Importance)
Level I and II:
- Prepare, prime and paint interior and exterior buildings, facilities and equipment.
- Read written job orders and determine work to be completed.
- Operate company vehicles on and off site including the man lifts, forklifts, motorized carts and other support equipment.
- Safely use hand brushes and rollers.
- Select appropriate preparation supplies, paint and cleaning materials for each project.
- Use ladders, scaffolds, and the man lift to reach surfaces.
- May provide relief in other job class, be on call or do other work as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Level II:
- Meet with contact person to get specifics of work requests. Perform the most complex painting work.
- Make minor repairs to sheetrock walls and ceilings; plaster and metal.
- Safely use power tools including compressors, airless and spray guns.
Senior Painter:
- Meet with contact person to get specifics of work requests. Perform the most complex painting work.
All levels of Santa Cruz Seaside Company employees.
Relationships ExternalMinimum contact with subcontractors, vendors and guests.
Training and ExperienceLevel I:
At least two years of experience preparing and painting interior and exterior buildings, facilities and equipment.
Level II:
At least 10 years of experience preparing and painting buildings, facilities and equipment and experience determining job specifications and completing complex work requests.
Level I and II:
- Ability to prepare and paint all interior and exterior surfaces including drywall, plaster, metal, and fiberglass.
- Ability to select appropriate preparation material, paint and cleaning materials for each project.
- Ability to accurately estimate paint drying times.
- Ability to follow safety practices and proper lifting techniques.
- Ability to carry 5 gallon paint cans.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to operate the man lift.
- Ability to safely use and store paints.
- Ability to safely use and store paints, lacquers, solvents, cleaners and flammable materials.
- Ability to maintain and make repairs for minor paint spraying equipment and compressors.
Level II:
- Ability to determine job specifications and complete varied work requests.
- Ability to estimate time, material and process.
- Ability to operate compressors, airless and spray guns.
Senior Painter:
- Ability to determine job specifications and complete varied work requests.
- Ability to estimate time, material, and process.
- Must be able to stand and walk for 7 and one half hours.
- Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist and carry short distances.
- Bi manual dexterity and able to identify colors.
- Able to climb 24 foot ladders.
- Able to work at heights up to 70' in a man lift basket or on rides with a catwalk.
- Able to read instruction manuals and document work.
- Able to perform heavy, fatiguing work: crawling, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and lifting.
Valid U.S. Driver's License at time of hire.
Testing- DMV Print-Out and proof of Driver's License.
