The Buyer will be responsible for driving procurement, supplier performance, and Supply Chain Cost Out (Supplier Transition) projects. This role requires strong leadership internally as well as with suppliers, precise order management, and clear communication. The Buyer must manage multiple priorities in a global supply chain.
Responsibilities- Own an end‑to‑end procurement process, including RFQ preparation, quote analysis, supplier selection, price and term negotiation, PO placement, and order follow‑up in accordance with internal procedures.
- Coordinate with ERP systems, technical drawings, qualified manufacturer listings (QML/QPL), and applicable customer or regulatory documentation.
- Own end‑to‑end purchase order delivery management, including supplier schedule alignment, expediting, recovery planning, and risk mitigation to ensure on‑time fulfillment of production demand.
- Develop, onboard, and manage supplier performance following processes and leveraging business reviews, scorecards and other tools.
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives to drive cost out at the commodity level.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams for logistics, discrepant material resolution, project needs, and documentation requirements.
- Support process improvement, daily stand‑ups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or certifications such as CPSM/CPIM preferred).
- 5–7 years of procurement experience with focus on machined components, forgings, castings, or similar technical commodities.
- Background in mechanical engineering a plus.
- Strong knowledge of industrial supply chain standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements; knowledge of Oil & Gas industry a plus.
- Demonstrated success in managing projects.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to work across cultures and time zones.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, ERP systems (Epicor preferred, SAP, Oracle), and Lean principles.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements
This is an in‑office position, based out of Santa Fe Springs, CA.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must work most hours overlapping production.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
