Xpanner is looking for a Product Manager, Hardware & Automation Systems to help build the next generation of construction automation products.
Our products combine heavy equipment, retrofit hardware kits, sensors, hydraulic/electronic control systems, machine guidance, automation software, and jobsite data. We are solving real field problems in utility-scale solar and broader construction markets.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to customers, machines, and engineering teams. You will visit jobsites, observe how work is actually done, identify automation opportunities, and translate field problems into clear product requirements and execution plans.
What You Will Do- Work directly with customers, operators, field teams, and sales teams to understand jobsite pain points.
- Identify product opportunities in heavy equipment automation and construction workflows.
- Define requirements for retrofit automation kits, machine interfaces, sensors, hydraulic/electronic controls, and field installation processes.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and field engineering teams.
- Lead product discovery, field validation, PoC planning, launch readiness, and issue prioritization.
- Build business cases, ROI logic, and customer-facing value propositions for new product opportunities.
- Support commercial launch through product documentation, training materials, sales enablement, and field feedback loops.
- Experience with hardware products, machinery, industrial equipment, construction equipment, robotics, vehicles, or automation systems.
- Strong customer-facing skills and willingness to spend time in the field.
- Ability to translate customer problems into clear product requirements and technical discussions.
- Strong execution mindset with experience managing timelines, risks, stakeholders, and trade-offs.
- Comfort working in a startup environment where processes are still being built.
- Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites, workshops, and field deployments.
- Experience with heavy equipment, hydraulics, CAN, GNSS/GPS, machine guidance, sensors, or control systems.
- Experience in construction, solar, infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture, or industrial automation.
- Experience launching hardware, robotics, or field-deployed products.
- Experience with retrofit or aftermarket equipment integration.
Construction automation starts in the field. This PM will help Xpanner identify the right customer problems, define the right product requirements, and bring practical automation solutions into real construction environments.
