Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical / Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of custom industrial automation and process control systems. This role offers the opportunity to own projects from concept through commissioning while working on highly customized equipment for industrial manufacturing environments.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing electrical control systems, programming Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs, developing electrical schematics, supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT), and commissioning complex industrial equipment. This individual should enjoy solving challenging engineering problems, thrive in a collaborative environment, and be passionate about delivering innovative automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical control systems and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Develop and program Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications.
- Design industrial control panels and select electrical components.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and electrical documentation.
- Perform electrical system troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and system validation.
- Support equipment startup, commissioning, and customer training.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Sales teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, UL-508, and applicable electrical standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and field installations.
- Travel approximately 10% for commissioning and customer support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited preferred).
- 10+ years of Electrical & Controls Engineering experience.
- Extensive experience with Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI programming.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.
- Experience with VFDs, motor controls, instrumentation, and remote I/O.
- Experience with motion control and servo systems.
- Strong understanding of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
- Strong knowledge of NEC and UL-508 standards.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Siemens PLCs, Factory Talk Remote, EWON, or Safety PLCs is preferred.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system experience is a plus.
