Collins Aerospace is seeking a Machine Operator I, to join our Carbon Brake Team in Santa Fe Springs, California. We create and ship out new carbon for aviation braking systems. In this role, you will learn our carbon manufacturing processes. You will Machine Carbon/Carbon brake disks used on aircraft. You will learn and thrive in a team environment.

Position works onsite at our Santa Fe Springs, California Facility.

Shift

Schedule:

2nd Shift Wednesday – Saturday: 2pm – 12am – Overtime available.

Responsibilities
  • You will adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) rules, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • You will implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), and technical drawings meticulously to guarantee consistent quality and safety.
  • You will identify and report any mechanical or safety concerns promptly to prevent disruptions and maintain operational integrity.
  • You will strictly follow written procedures to maintain safety and to ensure quality.
  • You will utilize standard measuring instruments and scales to ensure all parts meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • You will operate various CNC lathes and mills.
  • You will operate multiple machines at one time.
  • You will change inserts/tooling out from machine.
  • You will use micrometers, calipers, and hand measurement techniques.
  • You will read technical drawings and set up machines in alignment with blueprints.
  • You will apply basic to intermediate computer skills for various tasks, including data entry and process monitoring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically, a HS Diploma or GED is required.
  • 6 months of experience working on machining equipment.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with basic computer skills.
  • Some experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with forklifts and/or pallet jacks.
  • Experience setting up equipment for specific processes.
