About the Role:
Reporting to the Director, USA Southwest, the Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a key role in driving Richards’ growth by identifying, validating, and onboarding net new customers within an assigned territory. This is a professional sales role focused on presenting, promoting, and selling our Industrial Packaging Distribution products while exceeding sales and margin targets.
The ideal candidate thrives in a competitive environment, brings a true hunter mentality, and excels at building strong customer relationships.
This is a full‑time, hybrid position, and travel is mandatory.
Responsibilities- Identify and prospect high‑potential new customers within your assigned territory.
- Build and maintain a curated list of strategic and traditional prospects.
- Conduct customer visits, presentations, product training, and sales events.
- Develop and execute territory plans, call cycles, and growth strategies.
- Manage your sales pipeline from lead generation through deal closure.
- Onboard new customers and ensure a smooth transition into ongoing account management.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and complete daily sales reporting.
- Represent Richards at industry trade shows and customer training sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of successful sales experience (rigid packaging experience preferred).
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build ROI‑based business cases and sell value‑driven solutions.
- Technical understanding of rigid packaging (glass, plastic, metal, closures).
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage shifting priorities.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong hunter mentality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
