Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This role involves managing accounts payable and receivable processes, performing month-end close tasks, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a knack for process improvement.

Responsibilities:

- Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice review, coding, and weekly check runs.

- Maintain vendor records, acquire necessary tax forms, and issue tax-exemption certificates when applicable.

- Prepare reports to assist auditors with annual 1099 filings.

- Distribute monthly billing statements to residents and address questions regarding service fees or contracts.

- Manage corporate credit card accounts and reconcile monthly transactions.

- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations for various accounts.

- Collaborate with the Controller to review budget variances, respond to audit queries, and prepare compliance reports.

- Create and maintain prepaid expense amortization schedules.

- Utilize advanced Excel features and Power Query for comprehensive financial analysis.

- Work with cross-functional teams to optimize accounting processes and implement best practices.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.

- At least 4+ years of accounting experience, with strong exposure to general ledger and month-end close procedures.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, vlookup, and other advanced functions.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact and resolve billing inquiries for residents.

- Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable processes.

- Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to improving business processes.

- Experience with journal entries and financial reconciliations
