The General Services Department (GSD) plays a critical role in supporting state government operations across New Mexico by providing essential services and resources. The Administrative Services Division (ASD) ensures efficient and effective financial management of both enterprise and general fund operations. ASD is committed to exceeding the expectations of all GSD divisions by delivering responsive, accurate, and timely services. The division is staffed by experienced professionals specializing in Accounts Payable, Purchasing/Contracts, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Budget management, all working together to support GSD’s overall mission.

Why does the job exist?This position is responsible for compliant financial management for Government business operations within GSD in accordance with state and federal regulations. The incumbent will support all GSD divisions with all financial matters that pertain to accounts payable.
How does it get done?- Serve as the W-9 Liaison.
- Financial management for government business operations within ASD in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with auditing and reviewing payment documents for processing accuracy and timelines.
- Assist with processing itemized schedule of travel expenses.
GSD Financial Staff, GSD employees and suppliers.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Understanding the complex financial activity and compliance with all statutory and legislative mandates such as the Model of Accounting Practices (MAPs)
- Experience with SHARE Financial Module
- Accounts Payable Experience
- Vouchers and Payment processing
- Familiarity with W-9 processing and auditing
High School or Equivalency and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 25lbs.
Bargaining Unit PositionThis position is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
