Administratively attached to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, the Law Enforcement Certification Board (LECB) serves as an independent compliance and disciplinary regulation board for 8,000+ certification holders and 194 public safety agencies. The Board oversees the issuance, renewal, denial, suspension and revocation of certifications for law enforcement and telecommunicator professionals. The Board also conducts investigations into allegations of misconduct violations by certification holders, administering due process facilitation and disciplinary action.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?
This position exists to provide operational, analytical, and regulatory support to the Law Enforcement Certification Board. It ensures the integrity of certification processes, facilitates compliance with public records and disciplinary standards, and supports the Board's mission through efficient workflow management, stakeholder coordination, and data-driven reporting. The role serves as a central point of contact for internal and external communications, manages sensitive documentation, and contributes to the operational continuity of board activities across the state.
How does it get done?
RECORDS AND DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
1 - Maintains and updates electronic and paper files related to personnel, financials, property, and disciplinary actions using standardized naming conventions and secure storage protocols.
2 - Ensures confidential materials are handled in accordance with agency policy and regulatory requirements, including restricted access and audit trail documentation.
3 - Tracks and archives certification-related documents for over 8,000 holders, ensuring timely retrieval and lifecycle continuity.
4 - Coordinates with internal units to reconcile discrepancies in documentation and maintain version control across platforms.
BOARD OPERATIONS SUPPORT
1 - Manages the CEO's calendar, schedules board meetings, and coordinates logistics for travel, accommodations, and conference calls.
2 - Screens and prioritizes incoming communications (emails, calls, packages), ensuring timely dissemination to appropriate parties.
3 - Prepares agendas, meeting materials, and follow-up documentation for board sessions and stakeholder briefings.
4 - Serves as the operational point of contact for board members, agency representatives, and certification holders.
IPRA COMPLIANCE AND RESPONSE
1 - Reviews and consolidates responsive materials for Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
2 - Research relevant statutes, policies, and historical records to validate response content.
3 - Coordinates with legal and compliance teams to ensure all disclosures meet statutory requirements.
4 - Tracks IPRA requests and responses using internal systems to monitor deadlines and maintain transparency.
DATA COMPLETION AND REPORTING
1 - Gathers and organizes data for reports, presentations, and correspondence related to board operations and certification metrics.
2 - Proofreads and revises drafts for clarity, consistency, and compliance with agency standards.
3 - Develops reference tools and templates to streamline future reporting and improve data accessibility.
4 - Supports performance tracking by compiling statistics and trend analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION
1 - Communicates with 194 public safety agencies and ce1tification holders to relay updates, request documentation, and clarify procedural requirements.
2 - Facilitates the onboarding and renewal processes by coordinating with agency liaisons and internal staff.
3 - Responds to inquiries with professionalism and discretion, ensuring alignment with board policies.
4 - Maintains contact lists, communication logs, and stakeholder engagement records for continuity and audit readiness.
ADMINISTRATIVE PROCUREMENT SUPPORT
