The Public Health Division is the largest division under the New Mexico Department of Health.
We oversee the Scientific Laboratory Division, Center for Health Protection and the Center for Medical Cannabis and Psylocybin.
Why does the job exist?The purpose of this position is to provide the utmost professional high quality financial and administrative support directly to the PHD Director's Office/Program Support Bureau and BEHR, which consist of employees, walk-in customers, staff out in the field, other DOH staff members and other state agencies as needed.
How does it get done?The responsibility for this position is to adhere to procurement code, procure goods and services, obtain quotes, monitor and track payables, maintenance of equipment and ordering office supplies. Process Purchase Orders (PO's), paying invoices, vouchering, logging and pre-audits. Assist with fleet, room reservations, mail run and all aspects of travel. Position will track all area assets, perform
annual asset certification and oversee asset maintenance. SHARE Financial is used extensively for the tracking of purchase orders, payments, travel.
The Director's office and Center for Health Protection, as well as field staff.
Ideal CandidateInitiates and works independently on all work responsibilities. Has experience preparing and processing payments, purchase orders, organizing and tracking, projects and tasks as well as
processing travel. Detail and task oriented. Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks from multiple requesters. Understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, Smartsheet and Adobe Acrobat (pdf)
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five (5) years directly related experience as it relates to the essential duties of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working ConditionsWork in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminal (VTD) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
