Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Civil Construction Inspector to join one of their federal contracting clients in Santa Fe, NM. The Civil Construction Inspector will provide on-site inspection services in support of heavy civil construction activities in efforts to execute construction and rehabilitation work at the Azotea Portal and Drop Structures. The hydraulic structures are undergoing construction activites due to documeted concrete deterioration from Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) and Freeze/Thaw (F/T) damage.
This role involves daily field presence, coordination with construction contractors and federal personnel, verification of work quality and safety compliance, and preparation of inspection reports. This is a fully onsite role M-F (6am-6pm) and occasional extended hours or weeks to align with contractor schedules (a company truck and fuel card will be provided).
- Monitor and observe daily construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, and federal engineering standards
- Verify elevations, coordinates, formwork, reinforcement, and installed work against approved drawings and specifications
- Monitor construction sequencing, progress, materials, equipment, and workmanship
- Identify potential construction issues and assist federal personnel in avoiding delays
- Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA and Reclamation Safety and Health Standards (RSHS)
- Attend and document safety meetings, toolbox talks, and critical lift briefings
- Notify contractor personnel immediately of unsafe or non-compliant work and escalte to the COR within required time frames
- Understand and monitor environmental compliance requirements including NEPA, NHPA, SWPPP, and applicable permits
- Prepare daily or weekly inspection reports using provided templates
- Document contractor activities, staffing, equipment, materials, work efficiency, and stakeholder interactions
- Capture and submit project photographs meeting formatting and quality requirements
- Review RFIs, RFCs, schedules, and progress invoices and report discrepancies to the COR
- Coordinate professionally with construction contractors, federal personnel, landowners, the public, and the Jicarilla Apache Nation
- Maintain clear documentation of all field discussions and inquiries

- 3+ years' experience in heavy civil construction inspection
- Strong knowledge of structural concrete, formwork, reinforcement, curing, earthwork, excavation, compaction, demolition, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Experience with QA/QC practices and material testing for concrete and earthwork
- Proficiency in MS Office and email systems
- OSHA-30 OR RSHS 32-Hour training
- First Aid, CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP)
