Job Title: Construction Observer
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Are you an experienced construction professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for ensuring projects are built to the highest standards? As a Construction Observer, you will play a critical role in overseeing the construction phase of projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
YourRole & Responsibilities
- Provide daily observation of construction activities to verify compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Prepare and maintain accurate daily field reports.
- Track material quantities and unit prices.
- Interpret plans and specifications and maintain a red‑line set of construction drawings.
- Assist contractors with RFIs and review material submittals.
- Conduct field testing of construction materials.
- Retrieve and document construction material samples.
- Perform other tasks associated with construction observation and inspection as assigned.
- Travel required across southern New Mexico.
- Education:
high school diploma or equivalent. - Industry
Experience:
at least 3+ years of experience in roadway or utility infrastructure construction either with an engineering firm or as an employee of a general construction contractor. - Project and Construction Knowledge: past experience in construction management or observation.
- Technical and Communication
Skills:
written and oral communication skills, computer skills (Word and Excel), ability to track unit price quantities, read plans, and understand standard specifications. - Personal Strengths: determined, organized, detail oriented, and customer focused.
- Bonus
Skills:
construction materials laboratory testing experience is a plus.
