This position will integrate with the overall Project Teams to provide timely budget information to assist in the design and management of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate initial project budget estimates, update estimates during the design phases to ensure the project is tracking on budget. Negotiate the changes to the Scope of Work during the construction/installation phase and compile post-mortem cost summaries of the project once project is complete. Responsible for all components of the project;
Facility, Show Art, and Soft Costs. - Provide detailed estimates in a timely manner working from architectural and show art drawing packages, specifications, shop drawings, and creative concept art. This includes determining labor, material, and equipment costs for self-performed work.
- Provide direction to cost consultants and collaborate with in-house show estimating for development of comprehensive estimates.
- Identify project risks and evaluate required contingency at the earliest stages of the project.
- Update project estimates throughout the design phases including but not limited to Blue-Sky, Concept, Schematic, Design Development and Construction phases. Includes working with Project Teams in various cities.
- Research market conditions for cost trends and local means and methods. Develops location cost factors and escalation factors both domestically and internationally.
- Assist Finance and Project Teams to establish budgets and track actuals against estimate/budget.
- Develop and maintain a database of cost comparisons for various exhibitions.
- Develop estimates in coordination with Project Teams for all changes in Scope of Work during the construction/installation phase of a project.
- Assist the Project Team to create Value-Engineering ideas by assigning costs to each item to mitigate cost overruns.
- During estimating efforts research and present alternate means and methods to a better cost-effective way to maintain the overall creative intent.
- Compile overall project summaries on cost at the conclusion of a project.
- Maintain comprehensive risk registers and the associated schedule/cost risks analysis' to better inform the Project Team during the life cycle of a project.
- Collaborate with the Project Controls group to develop scope documents, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), cost control and forecasting analysis', asset cost allocations, and collection of historical data.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years on-site construction with a heavy focus on estimating in the construction and/or themed entertainment industries.
- Facility and show estimating experience.
- Experience in domestic multi-faceted projects.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills (both written and oral), and the ability to interface with cross-functional teams in a professional and polished manner.
- Relationship building – works closely with senior management, creative leaders and designers, finance, and project controls.
- General understanding of business drivers and market conditions.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proven track record in meeting aggressive schedules; clearly defining deliverables and timetables with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities in complex environments to successful project completion.
- Strong work ethic and high level of confidentiality using good judgement and an exceptional sense of accountability.
- Knowledge of risk management and analysis systems.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree (preferred).
