Heavy Civil Estimator

We are seeking a heavy civil estimator to support estimating and preconstruction efforts for heavy civil construction projects across Arizona, New Mexico, and surrounding Southwest markets. This is a strong opportunity for an estimator who wants more than just producing bids. The right person will be responsible for building accurate estimates, reviewing project opportunities, working closely with operations, and helping the company pursue the right work.

This role is ideal for someone who is technical, detail-oriented, personable, and interested in growing with the business.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and review plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Develop complete bid packages, pricing recommendations, and estimate backups.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, estimate reviews, and project handoffs.
• Work closely with operations and field teams to ensure projects are properly planned.
• Help identify project risks, scope gaps, and constructability concerns.
• Support pursuit strategy and help determine which opportunities are the right fit.
• Build relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in estimating accuracy and bid processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
• Experience with earthwork, underground utilities, grading, drainage, concrete, paving, sitework, or similar civil scopes.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid or similar estimating software preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work closely with operations and field leadership.
• Experience in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, or surrounding Southwest markets is a plus.
