Position: 2025-2026 SY: Teacher - Instructional Coach

Title: Teacher - Instructional Coach

Work Unit: Swenney Elementary School

Reports To: Principal

Contract Length: 9 months

Pay

Schedule:

Teacher – Level II/III

Overtime Status: Exempt

Hours: 35 hours per week

Union Status: NEA

Licensure: Level II or Level III NM K-8 Teaching License

General Function

Help teachers track their student data through instructional strategies/best practices as outlined in Strengthening Quality Schools (SQS) materials to reduce the failure rate, particularly among freshmen students.

Education/Training/Experience

Basic minimum requirements are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the District.

Minimum: Bachelors in Education. Two to Five years teaching experience.

Preferred: Masters in Education. Experience with data collection and analysis; familiar with high school reform/design and working with diverse populations and needs. Bilingual:
English-Spanish

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Demonstrated knowledge of various routine tasks, duties and procedures and the ability to follow specific instructions with little or no previous experience. Ability to exercise considerable and sound judgment to instruct students and manage their behavior. Willingness to improve competency by periodically participating in professional growth and to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Ability to deal with various ethnic groups. Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents. Must have skill in oral and written communication. Needs the ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies. Able to work collaboratively to achieve the overall goals of the school and the District.

Essential

Job Functions
  • Support district teachers in lesson planning, curriculum development and assessment.
  • Serve as a resource for veteran teachers who are seeking to complete their dossiers to move from Level II to Level III and for those involved in career pathways.
  • Determine/plan/deliver professional development according to the needs of the staff/school.
  • Serve as liaison to the Santa Fe Public Schools in helping to research and develop a strategic plan for the new career tech center.
  • Cooperates in the development and implementation of the District program of instruction.
  • Cooperates with staff and support personnel in assessing and helping students with health, attitude, learning and behavioral problems.
  • Complies with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Santa Fe Public Schools.
  • Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations.
  • Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly.
  • Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community and other professionals.
  • Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Salary Range and Benefits

    Based on education, experience, and level of NM Teaching License. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available to full and part‑time employees that work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

    Tier 2 License: $60,000+
    Tier 3 License: $70,000+
