Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • The part-time faculty member will deliver instruction in assigned courses in accordance with the master course syllabus, stated learning outcomes, and departmental guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain course syllabi, develop instructional materials, and design assessments that promote student learning.
  • Engage students through active and inclusive teaching strategies, provide timely feedback, and foster a supportive classroom environment.
  • Teach in-person, online, hybrid, or hyflex modalities as needed; may teach on different days and at various times, including evenings and weekends.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently; maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
  • Be available to support students through appropriate and accessible means of communication outside of class times.
  • Participate in required orientation sessions, professional development, or departmental training as expected.
  • All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with the policies and procedures of the college.
Qualifications Required

Education and Experience:

  • Required Minimum Degree:
    Master of Arts in English (Professional and Technical Communication, Rhetoric, or Literature), or Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.
  • Minimum Equivalency: none
Equivalent Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience teaching post-secondary education.
  • Experience with media, evolving instructional technologies, and distance learning programs.
  • Teaching philosophy that aligns with the DACC mission and values.
  • Bilingual competence in English and Spanish will be considered an asset.
  • TESOL certification would be considered an asset.
