Position SummaryThe Testing Center Technician oversees reception, intake, test administration, security implementation, and record-keeping for students and community members taking exams and tests administered at the SFCC Testing Center. Maintains software and workstations. The Technician does not supervise staff but contributes to the supervision of student employees.
Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct examinee intake and administer computer-based tests, managing access passwords, printing results, generating reports, ensuring student accommodation requests, and troubleshooting technical problems while maintaining security.
- Serve as a point of contact for staff, faculty, and other institutions to ensure that all exam scheduling requests and testing processes are conducted efficiently for their students.
- Partner with department staff and faculty to help students navigate their testing requirements and processes.
- Maintain detailed testing records and oversee the secure storage of all test materials at the Testing Center.
- Contribute to supervision and training of student Testing Center employees.
- Assist the testing team to maintain and troubleshoot all software on workstations.
- Resolve scheduling and student problems to ensure a smooth experience for test takers.
- Answer telephone calls and greet visitors to provide accurate general and test-specific information and assistance.
- Work onsite in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
- Skill in test score interpretation and one-to-one communication with students and community members.
- Skill in use and troubleshooting current testing software.
- Ability to stay calm when dealing with anxious testers.
- Ability to be efficient and focused in a fast-paced, multi-faceted testing environment.
- Ability to manage multiple reception, proctoring, and clerical responsibilities seamlessly.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- High School graduation or GED.
- One year of job-related experience.
- Experience with current testing software, such as Pearson Vue and Praxis.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of a computer.
- May be required to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior office environment.
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
