Description
IAIA is seeking an accomplished scholar with an academic background in Native American anthropology or sociology who has taught courses incorporating indigenous perspectives. This faculty position will enhance current courses in IAIA’s ILS program, an integral part of the Institute’s degree programs and curriculum.
Responsibilities- Teaching ILS courses that explore the historical context, criticism, theory and methodologies of Native American issues from an anthropological and sociological perspective.
- Developing and expanding the existing ILS course offerings.
- Maintaining regular office hours and participating in ILS department activities.
Education and Experience
- Requires a Master’s degree with recent and relevant experience teaching Indigenous and Native American Studies at the college level.
- Must have a demonstrated record of high-level professional achievement.
- Must demonstrate a proven background in anthropology, social sciences, and research methodologies.
- Experience with American Indian and Alaska Native communities and cultures is required.
- Doctorate degree.
- College-level teaching experience at both introductory and upper levels.
- Experience teaching at least four courses per semester.
- Experience advising students, supervising senior projects, and serving on faculty councils and committees.
