Position Summary
Compensation: $ per hour.
Employment Type:
Casual. Scheduled weekly hours: 1 hour. Grade: NE17. Department:
Continuing Education.
SFCC tutors are required to coach students in particular academic disciplines, encourage students to take responsibility for their own work, provide honest but supportive feedback about assignments, assist with front desk reception and clerical projects, maintain a safe environment in the Tutoring Center, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities- Coach students in individual academic disciplines.
- Encourage students to take responsibility for their own work.
- Provide honest but supportive feedback on assignments, pointing out strengths and weaknesses.
- Assist with front desk reception and clerical projects and coverage as assigned.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment in the Tutoring Center.
- Tutor students based on their needs.
- Schedule events with students as needed.
- Meet with students based on their schedules, which may include remote meetings.
- Be committed to Santa Fe Community College’s mission of student success.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Tutor I:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completed the course to be tutored at SFCC within the last three semesters and received an “A” in it.
- Referrals from SFCC faculty.
- Average GPA of 3.4 or higher in all coursework.
- Tutor III:
- Associate degree or higher in the field to be tutored and/or one year of work experience in a related field.
- Tutoring experience.
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table, or intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects. Work is typically performed in an office. Students may be met remotely via online meetings. Schedule is based on availability and student needs.
