Job Summary

This employee is responsible for working with the management in designing and implementing a business plan that increases penetration in the indirect auto market. They must adhere to policies and procedures that maximize potential business, while effectively mitigating credit union risk and the potential for loss. Additionally, this individual is routinely focused on building and enhancing relationships with new and existing auto dealers that promote the credit union's lending programs and translate into measurable results via new loan origination.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Work with management to develop and maintain a business plan that increases the penetration of the indirect auto market. Include action items and tactical steps to meet the goals of the plan on a regular basis and review periodically for performance.
  • Work with management to develop indirect lending policies and procedures that protect the credit union and the Member's best interests.
  • Work with management to oversee the indirect lending program and all its operations and serve as a backup to the branch lobby loan traffic as needed.
  • Work with management to introduce the credit union's indirect lending program to prospective auto dealers who do not currently participate in the program. Answer questions, resolve issues, and provide a process that facilitates a smooth transition between the dealer and the Credit Union.
  • Maintain strong relationships with new and existing dealers. Cultivate new credit union partners and business through community engagement, networking, and similar events.
  • Ensure that dealer questions or issues are resolved in a timely manner when they arise.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor's rates, terms, and other trends relating to auto loans or indirect lending.
  • Review and manage delinquency trends within the indirect program, which includes maintaining applicable delinquency ratios and charge off ratios set by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with dealership personnel, Members, and internal teams.
  • Make well informed, effective, and timely decisions and perceive the impact and implications of those decisions.
  • Ability to lead and achieve results from others through motivation.
  • Ability to analyze problems and opportunities, identify and evaluate alternatives, and develop sound, effective approaches.
  • Demonstrate high level of accuracy and attention to detail when reviewing loan applications and documentation.
  • Ability to negotiate terms and conditions with dealerships while adhering to the credit union's established policies and procedures.
  • Competent with loan processing systems, financial software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Deliver high-quality service to both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable federal and state lending regulations, including fair lending practices.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the Members and general public.
  • Ability to work Saturdays/weekends on a rotating schedule, as operationally needed.
  • Job Related Travel - As required.
Education/Experience
  • Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, and 3 plus years' progressively responsible experience in lending sales, business development, or similar focus.
  • Experience in a credit union or financial institution is preferred, but not required.
  • Licenses:
    • Maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable.
