Why does the job exist?
- Analyze financial data, prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations for multiple programs, and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger;
- Prepare monthly trial balances for the Behavioral Health Fund;
- Ensure audit requirements are met including the preparation of financial statements and audit schedules for the assigned funds;
- Ensure the agency complies with all state and federal rules and regulations while effectively working and communicating with other bureaus and divisions.
- Running reports from SHARE;
- Preparing trial balances;
- Reviewing and analyzing financial data;
- Reconciling the general ledger to third party interface systems for Health Care Authority (HCA) programs;
- Preparing and monitoring financial transactions and adjustments within assigned fund;
- Assisting with annual financial audit, audit deliverables, schedules and adjusting journal entries for assigned fund;
- Working with management, staff, auditors and internal/external customers to ensure accuracy of the general ledger.
- Citizens of New Mexico;
- Health Care Authority (HCA) management & staff;
- Other state agencies, Federal oversight agencies and State partners.
- Accounting experience, including reconciliation of accounting entries;
- Analytical and critical thinking skills;
- Excellent verbal and writing communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task;
- SHARE experience;
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, economics, finance, or business administration and three (3) years of experience in accounting, finance, economics, and/or statistical analysis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must obtain a Defensive driving certification.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting.
Bargaining Unit PositionThis position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
