The NM State Land Office has a Non-Emergency Telework Policy, which allows eligible employees to telework up to twenty-four (24) hours a week consistent with the agency's business needs.

The Commercial Resources Division currently is operating on a schedule allowing for up to 16-hours of telework after a probationary period. All new hires in the Commercial Resources Division must complete a 6-month probationary on-boarding and training period before becoming eligible for telework agreements.

As a valued State Land Office employee, you will receive a hiring bonus of forty (40) hours of leave at your start date to be used at any time. This is in addition to standard leave accrual for employees.

Why does the job exist?

The core mission of the New Mexico State Land Office (NMSLO) is to responsibly generate revenue through a wide array of leasing activities on state trust lands on behalf of public schools, universities and hospitals. The NM State Land Office's Rights-of-Way Bureau is part of the Commercial Resources Division. The work of the division touches all aspects and works with all divisions within the Land Office.

Volume and workload within the division is at a historical high and is expected to continue so for the foreseeable future. The selected candidate will be expected to actively participate in trainings and meet performance objectives. The analyst must accurately process applications, explaining the procedures to applicants, and have the ability to gather and organize the needed documentation in a timely fashion, while balancing multiple assignments simultaneously.

The analyst will provide customer service to a variety of industries including but not limited to oil and gas, commercial development, and telecommunications.

How does it get done?

The analyst will manage an assigned portfolio of rights-of-way and permits. The analyst must evaluate and process multiple rights-of-way and permit applications. The analyst will coordinate with applicants to compile requisite data as necessary to ensure accurate leases and permits are executed. The analyst is responsible for drafting documents for review, approval and execution utilizing standardized templates and approved pricing schedules.

Additionally, the analyst is responsible for the timely processing of payments received so they may be distributed to public schools, universities and hospitals throughout the state. The analyst will accurately input required information into the Land Information Management System (LIMS), and work with other Land Office personnel to complete required evaluations, reports and processing for each lease.

Oil, Gas, and Minerals Division;
Administrative Services;
Commercial Division;
Legal Division;
Surface Resources Division; and executive State Land Office management officials (Office of the Commissioner).

External:
New Mexico public schools, universities and hospitals; individuals; general public; lessees (agricultural, oil and gas companies, commercial, rights-of-ways); natural resource authorization users; program enrollees; hunters; other government entities (state, federal, city, county, tribal).
