## Director of Clinical Education - Respiratory Care
** Compensation:

* * Position Summary
** The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) Respiratory Care (RESP) is a 12-month staff role responsible for the end-to-end management of students' clinical training, including organizing and administering clinical rotations, developing and maintaining clinical sites, ensuring high quality learning experiences, and continuously evaluating and improving clinical respiratory education. This role requires frequent collaboration with students, faculty, and clinical partners, along with teaching assigned classroom courses.

As a member of the Division of Sciences, Health, Engineering, and Math, the Director participates in advising, program assessment, accreditation activities, and recruitment and retention efforts. Regular travel to clinical affiliates throughout Northern and Central New Mexico is required.
** Duties & Responsibilities
*** Oversee all clinical education activities for Respiratory Care students.
* Maintain, evaluate, and expand clinical sites and affiliate partnerships.
* Ensure clinical education meets accreditation standards, program goals, and current practice expectations.
* Continuously assess and improve clinical education processes, competencies, and outcomes.
* Teach assigned courses within the Respiratory Care curriculum.
* Contribute to curriculum development and ensure alignment between classroom and clinical instruction.
* Advise students on clinical performance, progression, and professional expectations.
* Provide remediation or coaching to support student success when needed.
* Maintain accurate records of clinical hours, evaluations, competencies, and required documentation.
* Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
* Participate in accreditation self‑studies, reporting, and site visits.
* Engage in program assessment, improvement planning, and documentation activities.
* Participate in departmental, division, and college committees and initiatives.
* Support recruitment, retention, and community outreach efforts.
* Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in clinical practice and education.
* Supervise Adjunct Faculty in clinical settings.
* Although the above are typical of the duties and responsibilities normally performed, additional duties and responsibilities requiring the same or lesser skills, knowledge and dexterity may be required.

* Minimum Qualifications:

*** Baccalaureate degree in Respiratory Therapy
* Current valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential  + Current state license (or attainment of state licensure within 9 months of employment);
* Five (5) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist to include concurrently at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care and two (2) years’ experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed staff member or as a clinical preceptor or mentor.

* Preferred Qualifications:

*** Master’s degree (or enrolled in Master’s degree) in a Health or Education related field.
* Advanced experience in the respiratory field including certifications in adult critical care, neonatal/pediatrics, pulmonary function testing, sleep disorders, home care, or rehabilitation.
* Experience in curriculum design and the clinical setting which supports the ability to develop clinical exercises, lab exercises and clinical simulations pertinent to respiratory care curriculum.
** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*** Knowledge of respiratory care practice, clinical education, and accreditation standards.
* Knowledge of curriculum design and alignment of classroom, lab, and clinical instruction.
* Skill in organizing clinical rotations, student placements, and affiliate partnerships.
* Skill in evaluating clinical sites and supporting preceptors and instructors.
