Night shift:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
- The Controls Technician is responsible for electrical control systems on all production/support equipment and machinery.
- Proficient at troubleshooting/repairing all aspects of electrical control systems and electrical components for production equipment and machinery.
- Hands‑on and assertive in driving continuous improvement activities pertaining to production equipment.
- Effectively troubleshoot technical issues related to maintenance and emergency situations (electrical, motor, control problems).
- Assist maintenance with electrical and control support and with creating, integrating, troubleshooting and improving a variety of processing and packaging control systems.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager/Supervisors to develop plans to reduce downtime in the area.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to modify control systems in order to improve operations.
- Participate as a member of the team: ongoing development, communication, implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members.
- Participate in team meetings, foster cohesiveness, identify areas lacking cohesiveness, and actively support issue resolution.
- Maintain familiarity with Simmons operating systems principles and objectives, communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
- Industrial controls experience/skills; knowledge of RSLogix 500 and 5000 as well as Factory Talk.
- Experience with Allen Bradley HMIs and PLCs, relays, logic diagrams.
- Ability to modify ladder logic programming and read/understand ladder logic and electrical schematics.
- Familiar with AC/DC motor controls and variable frequency drives.
- ABB knowledge is a plus.
- Experience in a food manufacturing organization is preferred.
- Minimum education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Preferred education:
Some college and/or technical school graduate. - We value military experience and welcome veterans to join our team.
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, and work on feet for entire shift.
- Manually lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work in extreme temperatures, cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, or dirty areas with noise levels above 90 decibels.
- Enter and locate information on a computer and visually verify information, often in small print.
Steel‑toed shoes, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat, and other PPE as required in the appropriate environment.
