Production Manager
Job Summary
The Production Manager works in a fast‑paced, creative environment as an invaluable asset to the Creative Studios division. This person will serve as a direct manager to 10–12 team members and provide production‑focused leadership during design, planning, and execution phases of a project.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a functional leader to ~10–12 AD&P members and a short‑term team leader for mixed‑talent production teams.
- Handle functional management duties such as time tracking, PTO management, performance reviews, hiring recommendations, team advocacy, and HR discussions for direct reports.
- Work with Production Directors to understand and establish goals, timelines, and build plans for internal project work performed by AD&P.
- Manage a selection of production projects, owning the timeline and material spend for each.
- Coordinate workflow through shared department resources, including Paint Booth, Laser Cutters, and Vacuum Former.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Design & Production and Production Directors to establish build sequencing and a work‑breakdown structure for each in‑house build.
- Contribute to project staffing decisions for internal build teams, ensuring the needed talent and opportunities for skill development.
- Help the build team meet deliverables by agreed end dates or labor limits while staying within budget.
- Act as a side‑by‑side mentor to the build team, building skills, advising on safe practices, and raising professionalism.
- Identify and resolve conflicts—technical or interpersonal—during a build.
- Provide regular completion status and spend updates during a build to the management team.
- Have the final say on an internal project’s build quality and durability, and guide reworks if quality concerns arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 1+ year(s) working in art administration or production management.
- 1+ year(s) interfacing directly with creatives.
- 1+ year(s) experience as a personnel supervisor.
- Experience creating permanent art installations or exhibitions.
- 3+ years experience in permanent exhibition design, fabrication, and artistic production.
- Experience leading production teams.
- Familiarity with shop tools and machine maintenance.
- Ability to work with wood, metal, plastics, and general assembly.
- Able to interpret shop drawings for production.
- Experience with 3D printing, CNC operations, laser cutting, and welding.
- Knowledge of fastener selection and specification.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Design and Production knowledge.
The role operates in a professional office environment and an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects, fog machines, and small/enclosed spaces. Physical demands include walking, standing, using stairs, slides, elevators, lifting up to 40 pounds, and operating respirators in dusty or humid conditions. The employee must comply with company and OSHA safety protocols and may require reasonable accommodations for disabilities.
WorkSchedule
Full‑time position with hours Monday through Friday, 9a.m. to 5p.m. or 10a.m. to 6p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position requires supervisory responsibility.
TravelSome travel (10%–25%) may be required.
