Job Requirements / Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program (RN)
  • Current New Mexico RN license or active Compact state RN license eligible for NM practice
  • BLS (AHA) required; ACLS (AHA) required
  • Chemotherapy (Chemo) certification required — experience as a chemotherapy nurse or oncology RN preferred
  • Minimum 1 year recent RN experience; oncology nursing experience preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary oncology team
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement individualized nursing care plans for oncology patients (inpatient/outpatient as applicable)
  • Safely prepare, administer, and monitor chemotherapy and other oncology therapies per established protocols
  • Perform focused assessments, monitor treatment responses, and intervene for changes in patient condition
  • Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, social workers, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality oncology care
  • Provide patient and family education on treatment plans, symptom management, infusion safety, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and medication administration records
  • Respond calmly and professionally to urgent and emergent situations
  • Meet physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing/walking and assistance with patient positioning/transfers
