Registered Nurse - Surgical Services
The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. The RN ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. The role is vital in demonstrating performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization, treating staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.
Responsibilities- Obtains and records initial assessments, establishing priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Re-assesses patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
- Develops and implements measurable individualized care plans within established time frames.
- Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes; modifies care plans based on evaluations.
- Participates in patient and significant other health education and discharge planning.
- Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care.
- Performs Point of Care testing procedures.
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications via AHA are required.
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely at the developmental level of the patient.
- Newly hired nurses with two or fewer years of experience will be hired at a CNI status. Higher clinical ladder levels may be considered based on relevant experience or additional certifications.
This position includes 4, 10-hour rotating shifts from 08:00 AM to 06:30 PM, along with weekend requirements of 2 weekends for 12-hour shifts on call per month.
