Registered Nurse (RN) in Santa Fe, NM
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team. The PACU RN provides critical post-operative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring patient stability, comfort, safety, and prompt intervention when conditions change.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor patients closely following surgical procedures and anesthesia, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in condition.
- Address the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and their families.
- Provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered nursing care throughout the recovery process.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team regarding patient status, changes in condition, and response to treatment.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow established standards, policies, and procedures for patient care and safety.
- Collaborate with the surgical and multidisciplinary care teams to support optimal patient outcomes.
- Report to the Director of Surgery or designated nursing leader.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within three months of employment.
- At least one year of PACU or related post-operative nursing experience preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical and post-anesthesia environment.
Must-Have Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Active and unencumbered RN license.
- Current BLS certification.
- At least one year of experience working in PACU.
